And a happy Monday to you! Don't you just love this quote? I think I'll need to post it up somewhere just to remind myself every single day.
Did you get up to anything fun on the weekend? I made the trek back to my hometown for a Mother-Daughter weekend! Sleep-ins, breakfast making, dining out, shopping, and some much needed girl time. It was nice to just turn the world off for a couple days and spend some time relaxing without a care in the world. (My mom even found her dress for the wedding!!! It looks so gorgeous on her and makes me even more excited for the big day.) (More wedding updates to come soon:)
Here's a round-up of just a few things I'm loving lately...
MOLESKINE DAYBOOK
And on the clearance rack at that! My inner nerd practically jumped up and down for joy when I found this little gem. I've also decided that writing out appointments, ideas, events, and so on doesn't make me ancient. It's cool. And can be colour-coded with different pens and highlighters.
And it's Star Wars which automatically rewards me with at least 200 extra nerd points, which can never be turned down. In fact, it's accepted with open arms, and a swift index-finger push to my glasses.
(Totally geeking out over here)
MAKING THE TIME
The only thing I had scheduled in this weekend was a good soak in the jacuzzi. Something I don't think I've done since highschool. And boy oh boy, I went all out. Face masks. Bath salts. Bubbles. A little Louise Hay. Followed by me forgetting how powerful those jacuzzis are. Note to self: Settle down with the bubbles. (It got a little out of control.)
But in all seriousness, I think I may have to schedule in weekly bubble baths. Such a perfect way to wind down and just release any built tension and stress. Paired up with a good book is even better.
My newest purchase is Louise Hay's Heart Thoughts. One of my favourites so far is this one...
Release the emotional attachment
to beliefs from the past
so that they don't hurt you in the present.
If you live fully in the moment,
you cannot be hurt by the past,
no matter what it was.
I find myself just opening up to a random page every now and again, and always stumbling on a small passage that fits like a glove.
BLUE SKIES
Yesterday I was on a mission to get out of the house and snap some photos. The weather, however, had other plans in mind. Overcast, grey skies. And on multiple occasions, I was convinced I was going to lose my fingers to the cold.
I braved through it anyway, secretly wishing that the sun would burst through. And whaddya know? On my drive back to Toronto, the skies cleared just as the sun was beginning to set. It was the most magnificant blue, with hues of glowing oranges, and pinks rolling in through the clouds. (Thanks, Universe!)
I imagined all the other people around me, what were they thinking? Were they enjoying this too? Maybe they weren't paying attention... just driving along, accompanied by traffic frustration and bits of road rage.
Lesson of the day: Taking a moment to savor the little things makes such a difference. (And can even make a long journey enjoyable.)
HEALTHY (& DELICIOUS) DINNERS
What you're looking at here, my friends, is what I call an action packed salad chock-full of deliciousness. I know, it's a mouthful of a recipe title, but it's the only one that fits. Complete with tomato, avocado, green onion, red pepper, cucumber, eggs, bacon, and feta... Mmm... Mmm... Mmm...
On another note, since Sebastian and I started eating more consiciously, we've been noticing such a difference. Not just with our bodies, but we're starting to really crave those healthier options, and aren't even interested in the junk. I've been learning just how adaptable our bodies are to change, which is making the adjustment much easier. (We do indulge every now and again though:)
Worth mentioning:
>> We just signed up for Scuba Diving lessons! Have you ever been? Any tips? My biggest fear is open water, but I'm determined to conquer that when we go to the Dominican. I'm excited, but so, so scared at the same time!
What's up with you? Anything new and exciting going on in your world? I'd love to hear! xx
That entree looks WONDERFUL!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had food like that around the house! I also bought a new notebook this year - I feel like I've told you already, but whattheheck. I love yours! I write everything down as far as appointments and stuff goes. It's also color-coded but I'm seriously in need of a pink highlighter. It seems so bizarre that I don't have one, but I don't!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the lessons! I've never been, nor do I think I will ever go, but some of the sights I've seen through pictures are just gorgeous!
That salad looks amazing! I'm definitely craving salad on this holiday. In Australia, salad accompanies basically every meal. Here, it's far and few between :'(
ReplyDeleteAnd that notebook? I had heart failure when I saw it. I wan't it SO badly. I feel a lot of nerd points bouncing back and forth between us. Feel free to send that bad boy my way! ;) x
These pictures are beautiful! I take at least 1 bath every week! It is so relaxing! :)
ReplyDeleteExactly what I need to do!!
DeleteI can't function unless I have everything written down - as you say, its cool ;) I'm 100% with you about the healthy food - I find if I eat 'rubbish' thats what I crave, but if I get into the habit of eating loads of veggies & drinking water etc - then I crave that. It takes a bit of willpower to start with but I'm always so glad when I stick at it!
ReplyDeleteI almost bought that moleskine! But then I figured I'd be a big fraud because I've only just recently watched the Star Wars movies (and by that I mean, finally watched Episode IV). Love it! I ended up getting the green one and it's a lifesaver! :D
ReplyDeleteI am working on that healthy and delicious dinners thing;)
ReplyDeleteLOVE that moleskin! Great round up!
