The Love List

Have you ever felt like forces beyond your control were putting in a little extra overtime to make everything just...work? This week has been full of that feeling. Maybe it's because I can feel myself becoming full of gratitude, or maybe I'm just paying more attention, or maybe it's all just true. That everything I've been living these past few months, the positivity pimping, the affirmations, the mindset shift, all of it, is coming together and creating a cosmic explosion of awesome.

I'm beginning to think (and really believe), that life isn't made up of luck, or fate. That we don't necessarily have this destiny that will suddenly fall into our laps because we were made to do that certain something.

We create our own destiny. What we put out into the world comes back to us in such magnificent proportions. But it takes work. And it takes living intentionally. Living day by day with the full realization of the vibes you're sending out, while truly soaking in what's being sent your way. The first step is making the bold choice to carve out your own way.

"Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

This one simple thought is huge and packed full of possibility. Thank you, Universe.

Enough rambling! Let's get the show on the road, here's a few things I'm loving lately...

THE ART OF FLIGHT

My go-to soundtrack. As if the film wasn't good enough on it's own, the soundtrack is incredible! We have it on a constant replay in our place. Waking up in the morning, cooking dinner together in the evenings, working away on the computer at night. It's one of those soundtracks that can suit any time of the day.

(Not to mention it got us really amped up to hit the slopes!)

GREEN JUICE + ACAI BLAST
My new morning ritual has been downing a glass of delicious green juice. Which has now grown into a full-blown scandelous love affair that my body yearns for. Seriously, if I miss a day, I crave it. Need it. This glorious green drink is full of veggies that give me that little pick-me-up I need in the mornings. (FYI: Not a morning person over here:)

Oh... and a little something you should know about those Açai Blast Chews... they taste like grape bubblegum. De-lish-ious! Overhauling my lifestyle has been an awesome experience, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's easy. This girl's got a sweet tooth. (Especially when I hit that 2pm wall and suddenly crave sugar like it's nobody's business) While shopping around a health good store, I stumbled upon these bad boys, and while they're not fantastic for you, it's a better alternative and tastes great. (Compromise:)

PICKING UP THE DRESS (YES, THAT ONE!)
You guys! Can I just step back and have a little moment to do a happy dance?! Wedding plans have been kicked up into HIGH GEAR. Crossing off the things on our to-do list like there's no tomorrow. And you know... no big deal here but I picked up my wedding dress from the store. (!!!)

So, let's back track just for a second here. I ordered my dress back in August. (August! Who knew these things took so darn long?) I found the dress on the first day I went out searching, and then suddenly it was like dresses were ev-er-y-where. I developed a slight addiction to Say Yes to the Dress, and got thinking.

Did I pick the right one?
Was I took quick to choose a dress?
What if when I try it on again I won't like it?

(You know, along with the usual, "WOW! I'm glad THAT girl isn't in my wedding party!" That show can be a little crazy sometimes, don't you think?)

So, with a massive amount of excitement, and a teeny tiny ball of nerves tucked near my heart, I sped off to the store to try it on again. And...it's perfect! It even feels like it fits better than it did before. How overjoyed I am can't possibly be expressed in words without using an insane amount of capitals and exclamation marks!(!!!) It's been so hard to keep it all a secret and it's killing me to just not post pictures of it right now, but all I can say is...

I fully give the Universe permission to speed up time.
WEDDING: LET'S DO THIS!

ASHORE
Sam, who writes over at ashore, wrote this wonderful post about being passionate even when you aren't and it really struck a chord with me. Not everything in life is going to make you feel passionate, and there may even be some days when you're living out your passion but you're just not feeling it.

What worked for her, was writing out "How would a person with passion live this day?" A simple question that has kept me wondering over the past few days. I've written it out and placed it right on my computer. I see it every. single. day. Each time I'm starting to feel like I don't want to do something, or catch myself making excuses for not doing something, I let this one line motivate me to push through.

So, ask yourself, how would a person with passion live this day? Now go live it :)

What are some things you're grateful for this week? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

  1. That post about being passionate really is a lovely and inspiring post. It resonates alot with me today, I could not for the life of me motivate myself in work today and when I say I did the bare minimum of tasks, its a understatement.

I've been feeling alot like that over the last 2 months, so I'm not sure if its me and my attitude to it, if its the cold and grey winter weather or some other reason!

  2. "How would a person with passion live this day?" I love this. I may need to keep reminder notes for myself too -- computer, car, bathroom mirror, etc. So great!

Also, how exciting that you finally got your dress! I tried mine on repeatedly when I got it. So fun! I can't wait to see photos of your big day. You are so beautiful in your everyday, I can only imagine what wedding day glow will do for you. :)

  3. I'm so happy you love your dress. I ordered mine from Preownedweddingdresses.com because it was my dream dress at a fraction of the cost and at first I wasnt sure I loved it. I second guessed my decision. Then I got it altered and it fit like a glove and I was in love.

Where do you get those Acai chews? We love acai bowls over at my house and I would to try those!

  6. Allie, thanks for sharing my post and I'm (so!) glad to hear it struck a cord with you. I think you put it perfectly, there REALLY are days when "I'm just not feeling it" and it takes something - even just a paper mantra - to get through them and keep going towards my dream. Here's to living passionately!
