We're Off To Get Married! + A Digital Hiatus

Can you believe it? We're here. Getting ready to meet our friends and family, before we hop on a plane early tomorrow morning to arrive in sunny paradise. Then, in just a few short days, we'll exchange vows and kisses, and get to say words like "husband" and "wife". Life is pretty amazing sometimes.

THINGS I PLAN ON DOING

+ Living in the moment. I've been immersed in Eckhart Tolle's The Power Of Now and in the book, he tells a story of a man who walked into a meat shop and asked for the best piece of meat, the shop owner responded, "They are all the best piece of meat!" And he was enlightened. While that seems a little woo-woo, he goes on to say that if you are truly living in the moment, then everything will always be the best. The best meal you ever indulged in. The best breath of air. The best kiss to ever touch your lips. The best moment you ever experienced.

+ Facing my fears. My biggest fear (as I've shared with you before...) is open water. The ocean? No way, no how. That is... until now. Fears are meant to be faced so why not go at it head on? I'm going to strapping on scuba gear and heading into the deep blue.

+ Loving openly. The overflowing love from our friends, family, and yes - you! has been so unbelievably, undeniably incredible. The support we've seen over these past few months, the ears who were willing to listen, the stories we've all shared back and forth... I can feel my heart expanding. I fully plan on soaking in extra hugs during this trip. Having this time to spend with some of the people who are most near and dear to our hearts has me full of excitement! (And then getting an entire week with my new husband? Love is in the air. And it smells oh-so-good!)

Digital Hiatus. Sometimes you just need to step away... you know? I've been feeling some lack in the inspiration department lately. The feelings of overwhelm and being swamped have started to take over. Ideas are whizzing around in my head like no other, but whenever I try to put pen to paper, or go to get things done, the "flow" isn't there. I'm taking this opportunity to step away and just... be. To go explore a new place, experience new adventures, dive deep into my own soul without the pressures of having to think and create... no obligations to do anything or be anywhere! (You know... aside from the wedding!) It's about creating space for other things to step into my life, and take full advantage to invite ease and flow into my world.

While I'm off, gallivanting in the sand and honeymooning it up, I've gathered up some of my favourite reads/videos/all-around good-for-the-soul type stuff out there on the web. Enjoy!

You want something? Go get it. Period. (Thanks, Vic!)

Cleanse the air you're breathing in by adding some of these into your home.

Loved Chela Davison's article on giving it your all.

The difference between happiness and joy. A beautiful article written by the incredible Danielle LaPorte. (Soak this one in!)

I whipped this mixed bean, hazelnut, and goats cheese salad up for dinner the other night. 10 points!

You are beautiful more beautiful than you think. This is all over the place but it made me cry (in a good, profound, we-need-to-all-support-and-love-each-other sort of way), so I'm sharing it here too!

For every day, I highly recommend checking in on the Daily Motivator. (It's my favourite mind break mid-morning!)

There are lots of goodies hidden deep within the Between Dreams archives, some of my favourites include Discovering Your Purpose, 3 Tips For a Magic Day, and Celebrate Yourself! (And a look back at everything leading up to our wedding - from the proposal, to wedding sneak peeks, engagement pictures, to the countdown!)

...And just for fun, something Sebastian e-mailed me this morning :)

“The happiness of life is made up of minute fractions – the little soon forgotten charities of a kiss or a smile, a kind look, a heartfelt compliment, and the countless infinitesimals of a pleasurable and genial feeling. ~ Samuel Taylor Coleridge

Now a little task for you: go tell someone special that you love them, give them an extra kiss, hold them tight for a just a little bit longer. This life is the most precious gift of all. Value it, treasure it, and remember that above everything else, love conquers all.

Sending you light, love, and big bear hugs! See you in a couple of weeks, when I'm married!(!!!)xx

  5. I hope you had a fantastic wedding and are basking in the lovely new honeymoon phase! I also share the fear of open water. We decided to go to Jamaica for our honeymoon and I was terrified to face that deep dark blue! We were there for seven days and I might have spent half of them hanging on to my husbands neck for dear life lol It was amazing though and I enjoyed every second of that deep blue water! Cant wait to hear about your experience :)
