Kick Start: Look How Far You've Come

If I could pick out one constant theme in my life - it's the desire for more. Curiosity pumps through my veins, it's engrained into my very DNA. Throughout my life, I've always been searching, keeping my eyes peeled, probing with questions. For the majority of my adolescence, I had no idea what I wanted. Period. I never had that moment where everything just sort of "clicked" and suddenly I knew what I wanted to do and where I wanted to be for the rest of my life.

At times, life seems like a constant race. You set your goal, run like hell towards it, and once you get there, there's something else. Another dream to strive for, another target to hit. That's the one thing about humans is that we're never fully satisfied, there's always more to chase after.

When you're moving forward it's hard to see how far you've come.

In times like these, the curse of comparison can set in, you see someone who is where you want to be, and think, "Why can't I be that successful? Why can't I be more like that person? They've got it all figured out."

Or it's the self-induced guilt that's got us down, "Why haven't I achieved that yet? I should be there, not here."

Or maybe it's just the trash-talking mean girl that you just can't seem to shake, "You couldn't possibly do that!", "You're not ready for that!", "That's so unrealistic and beyond silly, what were you thinking anyway?"

During moments like these, these beliefs and thought-patterns can cloud the truth. Everything seems so murky, and the only thing that's clear is that you are not enough, you haven't done enough, and you have so much further to go. But you are. You are so much more than enough.

In this moment, stop the race, the striving, the wanting, the countdown, the targets, the searching. Stop it all.

ASK YOURSELF: How did you get to where you are, right now?

We've all gone through our own unique set of heartbreaks, traumas, dramas, twists, turns, and bumps in the road. Some of us have had our hearts shattered, our spirits broken. At one time or another, we've all felt unsure, lost, and alone. We've been lied to, betrayed, and misled. There's been trials, lessons-learned, and cold-hard truths. Curveballs and wake-up calls.

Some of us have made it to the other side, while others are deep in the thick of it all.

Each and every one of us has been through so much to get to where we are today. Regardless of who you are, where you are, what you do, or what you think... you are enough.

Let me just say that again - you are enough.

Yes, you. You are enough.

You've lived those past moments, you've experienced life's ups and downs, you've navigated through treacherous waters and made it out - stronger, wiser, and more aware. You are armed with a wicked dose of courage and bravery, rock-solid grit, and a beaming light so bright and steaming hot that you are a serious force to be reckoned with. Powerful, radiant, freaking beautiful.

Give yourself the credit you deserve.

Today, your task is to take this gentle reminder: look how far you've come. xx

Share it, print it, save it as your new background, or simply read the words and take a big, deep breath. xx

  2. This was great. You are so motivational! I'm trying to be better about reflecting and a recent loss has definitely changed my priorities. It's weird but the change isn't something purposeful, it just seems to be happening and it's a really good thing for me. Thanks for the beautiful post.
